There is a cat on the side of the road
Skinny as can be hes in survival mode
Hes like a burden to anyone
Although hes done nothing wrong
He is hungy like the kids in africa
But everyone is laughing Ha
He is at KFC but will not give them a tip
He was offered sprite but did not drink a sip

Essay, Character Analysis
A life without friends is a road that no man wants to travel down. Some people wish they didnt have 'certain' friends, while others would die for them. Being put down, neglected, and not having the oppurtunity to share secrets and feelings with one another is being demonstrated in Steinbecks historical fiction novel "of Mice and Men". Crooks is a character that longs for a friendship.
Crooks has no friends and is very "up-tight" about even talking to people. When he describes to Lennie how he felt, you see that he is also "nearly crazy with loneliness". The only reason people even talk to Crooks is to give him orders to work with the horses. This is why it's so hard for him to open up to people. "I said s'pose George went into town tonight and never came back." explained Crooks. Unlike Lennie, Crook's isn't used to talking to people and was showing Lennie what he feels like everyday. Crook's doesn't want people to view him for his color, but as a man.
He is a very static character as he doesn't change his personality during the book. Chapeter four began and ended with Crooks by holding "a bottle of liniment, and with the other he rubbed his spine." Crooks' schedule everyday is spent reinacting the same events he persued the day before. People don't ask to hang out with Crooks and give him something different to do in fear of losing their reputation. He desires the 'American Dream' but is held back from reaching it from people telling him he can't achieve it. This caused him to never speak greatly in fear of being "strung up on a tree". He wants to have friends, but isn't given another chance due to racism.
Crooks started to believe what other people were saying to him and his vision of friendship was destroyed. He started accepting the name "busted-back nigger" by all the co-workers who called him that. More than anything he realized that he probably isn't going anywhere in life and has no one there to tell him it's okay. He never has anyone stand up for him and put an end to his mistreatment. Crooks is alone, he even said his only friend he had was a white kid when he was little and was forced to stop seeing by his dad. The color on his skin limits him to absolutely anything he wants to do. Crooks can't even play cards with all the guys when they're in their cabin.
Lennie is one of the greatest oppurtunities Crooks has to express himself and let out the anger he has kept cooped up inside of him for a long time. Crooks felt a slight bond in friendship during their conversation they had. The sad thing is, Crooks was feeling all hyped up after Lennie started talking to him but was thrown back to reality by Curleys' wife after told him he isn't worth anything. His 'American Dream' can be grabbed, but without being able to see past the color of one skin straight to his heart and to accept him for who he truly is, there is no hope. Crooks is a man who is held back from getting friends by his race and he will always envy those who have them.

The Hearty Batesville High School

The cafeteria is always full thanks to study hall and lunch. The smell of boilded burgers will get anyones tummies rumbling with rage! It's loud echoey walls give it a entergetic atmosphere. Zippers being unzipped, as those who brought their lunch are fully aware of what the lunchroom has to offer. This is BHS.
The teachers are talking urgently to the students as they take notes with their bright yellow number two pencils. Sirons from broken alarms wake the kids that are sleeping, while the other kids are just ignoring them. This is BHS

9/11 Paragraph
The terrrorists in the 9/11 could probably easily been thought of as a group of brainwashed people. A document released by the FBI that was used by the hijackings on four airplanes responsable for the 9/11. In the document, Osama tells his colleagues "strike for Gods sake", "take prisoners and kill them". It even said, " you should dedicate your slaughter to your father (God). This tells us that those who hijacked the airplanes thought that they were doing it for a Godly purpose and that it was okay to kill people as long as they were giving the glory to God. It all makes sence! Osama Bin Ladin made them think it was for the greater good to commit this plot. But even he knew that somewhere along this document that he changed their point of view on the task and made it a little easier to be carried out.

I Am Poem
I am determined and athletic
I wonder what it would be like to go to Australia
I hear crickets chirping when Newport comes to Batesville
I see a elephants trunk flowing through the wind
I want to be succesful in everything I do
I am determined and athletic
I pretend to dunk in Richardson's eye, but thats what dreams are for
I feel relaxed as the cloud moves under the sun
I touch a blade of artificial grass on the field
I worry we wont win state
I cry when a loved one dies
I am determined and athletic
I understand that there is only one God and his name is Jesus
I say fatigue makes cowards of us all
I dream about dreaming
I try to go my hardest during practice
I hope I will eventually start in football
I am determined and athletic

Approved Novel: Gullivers Travel
Approved Novel: Gulliver’s Travels
· I read Gulliver’s Travels for my third blog post and I found that it was a very good book. It is first-person narrative story about a failed surgeon named Lemuel Gulliver. Gulliver shows up on an island after being in a shipwreck and finds himself being held captive as prisoner to a race he has never seen before. They are less than 6 inches tall. I liked this book because it was very creative about how each quest he was in, there were different obstacles he had to find solutions to. Like how he was charged with treason for not reducing the country to a province of Lilliput by the king. But the kings friend helps Gulliver escape from Blefusco and Gulliver finds an abandoned ship. Gulliver sails out, where he finds another ship that takes him back home. This book was also great on how specific individuals may be good even where the race is bad—Gulliver finds a friend in each of his travels and, despite Gulliver's rejection and horror toward all Yahoos, is treated very well by the Portuguese captain, Dom Pedro, who returns him to England at the novel's end. So every bad thing always turns into something good for Lemuel. Jonathan Swift writes this story through first-person narrative which is the perfect use for the character Gulliver. The only thing that was hard to understand was the language. Some parts were difficult to understand but the other parts were easier to deal with.
Pictures worth how many words
Reader: I like to read scary books
Writer: Like to refer to past experiences
Me: Outgoing person, likes sports, nice guy

Song, Carry Out
The song I am doing my writing on is Carry Out, by Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. The reason I picked this song is because it seduces the opposing female, while using phrases which refer to restaurant and food terms.
In the chorus the song says, “ take my order, cuz your body like a carry out” which basically means that her body is so fine he wants to take her home, In gangsta language. This song interests me because it’s such an odd use of words with two completely contradicting ways of the same meaning. This song always makes me think of McDonald’s drive thru and there being a very pretty girl taking my order. This is a great example of the song. It’s more of a hip-hop song with rapping but sounds just right with a quite unique and terrific beat and meaning.
It all comes back to trying to get the girl but then out of nowhere it changes completely to another day at McDonalds. “What’s your name? Girl what’s your number? I’m glad I came. Can you take my order?” Is a great example of this dramatic change in the song. Carry Out makes me also a tad hungry for food; but also women (if you know what I mean).
This is why I picked the song Carry Out by J.T. and Timberlake and the meaning it has to offer.

The last of The Angry Men
I read the Article the last angry men by Rick Telander. Its about the greatest linebacker in football history. Dick Butkus. It was once said that his goal was to hit the ball carrier so hard that his head came off. Butkus was like a caged animal. In one of his games against St. Luis in 1970, he picked up four personal fouls. Butkus was tired of all the people in Beverly Hills talking about things that would put pressure on him. He said, "im tired of all this beverly hills crap."
The real question was, where was he from? Oviously he was from Chicago. But what made him who he is today? Just like every other linebacker they were brought up playing rough with friends and family. Certainly genetics also play apart in helping making up a true linebacker. Real linebackers only focus on nailing people and they are proud to be called animals. Its not anger that drives Dick, but desire to play the game as he plays the most "badass" position on the field. As Butkus said, "violence can resolve ambivalence and uncertainty, and who doesnt crave certainty in life?". You need to punish the bad which shows them who is boss.
To me, I like this article because it tells what being a linebacker is from a linebackers perspective. A good linebacker. It shows what they think about their positions and how they are brought up. This article tells the art of how really the position is visioned as.
